Kaunas University of Technology (KTU)

is the largest technical university in the Baltic States. KTU is a coordinator of Lithuanian Distance Education Network (http://www.liedm.lt). E-Learning Technology Centre at Kaunas University of Technology - is a university centre, which was established at Kaunas University of Technology in 1996 in the framework of PHARE project „Multi-Country Co-Operation in Distance Education".Mission is to promote and develop higher and further education system supported by advance e-Learning Technologies.

Mainactivities:

• Development of Distance Education methodology for authors, tutors and administrators of Distance Education courses
• Tutors training
• Preparation and delivery of Distance Education courses
• Accumulation of Distance Education library
• Research in Distance Education (needs, methodologies, technologies etc.)
• Co-ordination of video conference network
• Formation and support of virtual learning environments
• Production of audio and video learning means
• Cooperation with industry and business sector, formal and non formal educational institutions, governmental and non governmental organisations
• Cooperation in international projects and developing content and e-learning solutions for specific target groups.

Since 1998 the centre was a coordinator of 12 projects sup-ported by EU (Phare, Leonardo da Vinci, Eureka, Testvil, Socrates, TEMPUS IV, FP5, FP6, and etc.). E-Learning Technology Centre is a member of National Association of Distance Education (NADE), Lithuanian Association of Adult Education (LAAE), Association of IT companies (INFOBALT), Lithuanian Project Management Association (LPVA), European Distance and E-learning Network (EDEN), European Universities Lifelong Learning Network (EULLearN), European Universities Continuing Education Network (EUCEN), European University - Industry Network (EUI-Net), Global Development Learning Network (GDLN).
